I don't advice you to wash silk Kimono or silk Haori jacket by yourself as much as possilble.
Washing silk by water may cause the fabric to shrink or discolor and transfer the color to white fabric. You may dry cleaning by cleaner's shop.
Since ancient times, Kimono washing has been very complex process, first people unthread it, then wash it, dry it on a wooden board, and finally sew it again.
If you wish to wash silk Kimono or silk haori jacket by yourself...
1. Please check if the color fades.
How to check for discoloration.
Put the undiluteded laundry detergent in hidden place and wait 3- 5minutes.
After this time, tap that part with an another white cloth to see if the color transfer.
After the discoloration test, if the color fades, it is better to stop...
2. After folding the Kimono or Haori, into the whashing tub, gently press and wash it with a small amount of laundry detergent. Don't rub please!
3. Change the water and wash by new water twice or three times.
Pressing and remove the water. It's difficlut to drain, but it's important.
4. After draining the water to some extent, put the Kimono in a white towel to remove the water.
5. After removing the water, after smothing out the wrinkles, dry in the shade a windy place. Use a T shaped stick to dry the haori please.
6. Low iron please.
Please hang kimono up to dry in airy room on occasion!
